Hello all! I’m new here, and I was just curious if anyone here knew if putting coffee and copper together for a prolonged period of time was a good idea.
I’ve seen plenty of copper coffee implements like the copper Hario V60 and I believe I’ve seen copper ibriks (although I’m not for sure on that), but I also know that I’ve been told not to cook acidic foods like tomato based soups and sauces in it, as tomato has acid in it that interacts. As coffee has acid in it I started wondering if it was safe to have the two touching each other. What do you guys think?
The Hario Copper V60 is nickel-plated on the inside. Copper ibriks are lined as well – some even with silver! The copper doesn’t touch the coffee.
OTOH, my awesome 🙂 MonarchMethods pouring kettle is all copper – but only water is in contact the copper, not coffee.
I didn’t find the right solution from the Internet.
